Empowering The Block Island Arts Community
Mission Statement
The Block Island Arts Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting creative expression among artists and craftspeople of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Through thoughtfully developed programs and partnerships—including residencies, arts education, grants, and free public programming—we create opportunities to learn, make, exhibit, and collaborate. By fostering a welcoming creative hub, we support both local and visiting artists while strengthening a vibrant, connected, and sustainable arts community on Block Island.
Vision Statement
We envision a thriving, inclusive, and engaged Block Island community where creativity flourishes year-round and is accessible to all. We aspire to a future in which artistic expression fosters connection, enriches community life, and contributes to lasting cultural and economic vitality, establishing Block Island as a dynamic center for creative exchange.
